What is a Website ?

General Disclaimer - Happy Online would like to remind all visitors that they are responsible for their own computer settings - some suggestions may not work on some computers and may result in errors - you should only make changes to your computer if you are comfortable with any consequences that may arise.

Websites are collections of web pages, which are normally held under one domain or web address eg:- www.happy-online.co.uk. Websites are often compared to online brochures.

If you type a domain name into a web browser you will be taken to the home page of that website. From the Home Page you should be able to navigate around the rest of the website by following Hyperlinks.

The Hyperlinks on the website will take you to pages within the website you are browsing. Sometimes these Hyperlinks will take you to other websites.

Websites hold vast amounts of information, in the earlier days of the Internet the sites were largely static (hence the comparison to online brochures) with web users having little interaction with the web pages they viewed - however with the improvements in web programming pages are becoming more dynamic and respond differently with different user inputs.
