What is a Weblog ?

A Weblog, or Blog is like an online diary or journal where the publisher of the Blog expresses their thoughts and opinions in a chronoligical order.

A Weblog publisher acts as a guide to their chosen field - it could just be a diary of their life, it could be a topic the publisher is interested in or it could just be what is on the publishers mind when they make an entry. The publisher may link to websites that they find useful and related to their field.

The Weblog acts like a commentary to their field and updates are normally made frequently - often daily. The latest update are added to the top of the Weblog and the older updates are underneath.

It is difficult to say why Weblogs are so popular - although it may be worth while comparing the popularity of a Weblog to a reality TV show such as Big Brother - basically people are interested in other peoples actions and opinions.

There are a vast array of Weblogs in existence covering almost every subject you could imagine.
