What are Web Plug-ins ?

General Disclaimer - Happy Online would like to remind all visitors that they are responsible for their own computer settings - some suggestions may not work on some computers and may result in errors - you should only make changes to your computer if you are comfortable with any consequences that may arise.

A web plug-in is a program that works in conjunction with your web browser and often makes an enhancement to the browser allowing certain programs to run.

When you visit websites that require a Web Plug-in the browser will check to see if it is installed - if it is not installed the program will be download (depending on your security settings you may be asked if you wish for the program to be downloaded) and installed for you - this will ensure that the website operates as intended, if you choose not to download the web plug-in you will find that the resulting web page will not be displayed properly.

If you wish to see what Web Plug-ins have been downloaded in Internet Explorer select the Tools drop down menu at the top of the browser window followed by the Internet Options option. A new window will appear, under the Temporary Internet Files of this new window select the Settings button and a futher window will appear, if you then select the View Objects button a window will appear that displays the downloaded program files.
