What does url stand for ?

General Disclaimer - Happy Online would like to remind all visitors that they are responsible for their own computer settings - some suggestions may not work on some computers and may result in errors - you should only make changes to your computer if you are comfortable with any consequences that may arise.

URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator - the URL is basically just another way of referring to the Web Address.

The URL however is the full web address eg: http://www.happy-online.co.uk and includes the protocol (http://, https://, ftp:// etc) and the domain name (www.happy-online.co.uk, www.google.com).

However, when you put URLs into your address bar you dont normally need to worry about placing the http:// before the domain name. (In addition when placing web address into the address bar you dont always need to put the www.)
