Why do you nead to up grade your modem ?

Obviously the main reason someone might upgrade there modem is to increase the speed that they access the internet.

However, if you are on a dial up connection then there is little point upgrading your modem to anything faster than a 56k Modem as standard telephone lines will not be able to achieve a faster transfer rate than 56k anyway.

If you are on a broadband connection then you will need some extra hardware - this will normally be provided (at a charge) by the company who arranges your broadband access.
