Should I delete temporary internet folders? Will it make my computer more efficent ?

General Disclaimer - Happy Online would like to remind all visitors that they are responsible for their own computer settings - some suggestions may not work on some computers and may result in errors - you should only make changes to your computer if you are comfortable with any consequences that may arise.

Your computer should be able to hold a fairly large amount of information in the Temporary Internet Folders with out any noticable slowdown. However, if you do have limited memory available then deleting Temporary Internet Folders is an easy way to free up some space on your hard drive.

Alternatively, instead of deleting Temporary Internet Folders on a regular basis it may be worthwhile limiting the amount of data that the folders hold. To set the amount of disk space used by the Temporary Internet Folders in Internet Explorer select the tools drop down menu at the top of the browser window followed by Internet Options. A window will appear with various tabs along the top - if you select the General Tab you should be able to see a Temporary Internet Files section - if you then select Settings under this section a further window will appear - in this window you can select the amount of disk space the Temporary Internet Folders uses.
