The big thing about the internet is that it is so "Big", both students and teachers can benefit from the huge amount of information available.

A student can study around a topic area to improve their knowledge of a subject - the internet is a great learning tool. (The downside of the amount of information available is that homework can be to easy - however as long as the student is learning while they are extracting information from the internet then all well and good - the final exam will test that level of knowledge.)

A teacher can look for ideas for the classroom, join in discussions/forums with other teachers and share ideas. Again, like the student they can expand their knowledge of the subject(s) they teach.
