A lot of Webmail Email accounts now provide a SMS service as part of the email account and you should be able to find these services by doing a search on your favorite search engine.

When doing a search you may also find some service that provide just a SMS service - have a look around, a lot of these service offer free text messaging. (I dont know how well they work and how they deal with the privacy of Mobile Phone numbers - so try to make sure you are dealing with a trusted company.)
