I recently found a virus that said my computer was "bugged"- I have since deleted all my temporary internet files-is there anything else I should do? Also I recently sent in personal information to a secure website--is that information accessable to whoever "bugged" my computer?

General Disclaimer - Happy Online would like to remind all visitors that they are responsible for their own computer settings - some suggestions may not work on some computers and may result in errors - you should only make changes to your computer if you are comfortable with any consequences that may arise.

If you think that your computer is "Bugged" or what is more commonly known as being hacked, then you should certainly delete Temporary Internet Files, and also ensure that you do not have any other information that you would not want to be shared with other individuals on your PC - eg Passwords, Personal Information.

You should also obviously look to remove the software that has opened up your PC to these hackers - do this by searching for software that finds and deletes Trojans.

Also, to ensure that unauthorised access is prohibited your can install and operate a firewall.

With reference to information being sent via a Secure Website, it is possible that some information from Secure Websites are stored in your Temporary Internet Files. In addition if you have been hacked it is possible that the hacker can see exactly where you have been and what you have typed. (It is possible that they have remote access to your PC - this may include being able to view what you are doing and therefore typing.)

Note that I have stated what is possible and what Hackers can achieve.
