General Disclaimer - Happy Online
would like to remind all visitors that they are responsible
for their own computer settings - some suggestions may not work
on some computers and may result in errors - you should only
make changes to your computer if you are comfortable with any
consequences that may arise. Unfortunately, there are lots of different types of spyware
(which are installed for different purposes) and there is no
way to be sure on how each one operates and what measures you
can take to protect your privacy.
Some forms of Spyware look at your surfing habits and/or try
to force you to visit certain sites, or place pop-up ads(ads
are sometimes based on surfing activity) in front of you when
surfing.
As far as protecting your info - obviously, you can make sure
that you do not have any data on your PC such as passwords,
credit card details etc and when you surf the web you can avoid
entering any details that could be picked up by spyware.
However, I suggest that you do not give up on the idea of removing
Spyware from your PC - if you have run some software that removes
Spyware but does not work give feedback to the software providers
- hopefully they may be able to offer you some tips. (They may
also be able to give you information on what the Spyware on
your PC is doing and you will then be able to judge how secure
you need to be when surfing the web.)
The companies that produce software that removes Spyware will
be grateful for your feedback - this is their business and they
will want reports of when there services does not effectively
clean up PCs.
