What is an Explorer bar used for ?

General Disclaimer - Happy Online would like to remind all visitors that they are responsible for their own computer settings - some suggestions may not work on some computers and may result in errors - you should only make changes to your computer if you are comfortable with any consequences that may arise.

The Explorer bar can be used to display your favorites, the browser history (pages that you have previously visited), your folders (my computer, my documents, C drive etc) or to perform a search.

Many users however decide not to have the explorer bar displayed when carrying out normal surfing because the favorites option is easily accessed from the favorites drop down menu, most people use a search engine rather than the search function within the explorer bar and it is unlikely that you need to regularly access your folders while browsing the internet.

To control what is displayed in the Explorer bar in Internet Explorer select the view drop down menu from the top of the browser window followed by the Explorer bar. Here you can decide what is displayed and a tick will be inserted beside the chosen option. If you want to close the Explorer Bar select the ticked option again and the bar will close.
