I followed instructions and restored my general tab to internet options. However, after setting my home page to msn.com another page keeps coming up and I can't get it to default to msn

General Disclaimer - Happy Online would like to remind all visitors that they are responsible for their own computer settings - some suggestions may not work on some computers and may result in errors - you should only make changes to your computer if you are comfortable with any consequences that may arise.

This sounds like spyware activity - you should search for software that detects and deletes spyware in your favorite search engine and then run this software.

If you cant access MSN to set it as your homepage then you may like to try this workaround:-

Search your PC for a file named hosts - when you have found this file make a back up as we will try and amend some details in this file and you may like to revert to the back up if things go wrong.

When you have made your back up - open the original hosts file in notepad. You should see a file that has many lines preceded with a # that explains what the file is followed by a line similar to this:-

127.0.0.1 localhost

If this is all you see then there is nothing we can change here to resolve your problem of not being able to access MSN - I therefore suggest closing this file and searching for software to remove Spyware.

If however underneth the line 127.0.0.1 localhost are more entries then try looking for a line that includes msn.com, www.msn.com or similar. If these lines do exists then delete the line and save the file.

If you then try going to MSN it may have resolved your problem.
