In Internet Explorer how can I stop forms auto completing
?
General Disclaimer - Happy Online
would like to remind all visitors that they are responsible
for their own computer settings - some suggestions may not work
on some computers and may result in errors - you should only
make changes to your computer if you are comfortable with any
consequences that may arise. When you type words into a search engine or your user code
into a password box on a web page you are using a input form.
Forms can auto fill with data that has previously been entered
- for example if you have previously gone to a seach engine
and searched for Happy Online and you go back to that search
engine again and start typing Happy Online the browser remembers
what you have previously typed and will display the previously
typed word before you have finished typing - this can save you
time as you can select this previous entry.
There is however a downside to this feature as information
such as user codes and passwords can also be remembered by the
browser and this could result in these details be presented
for input to any user of your computer.
You can however set your browser so that it does not auto complete
forms. To do this you will need to select the Tools option at
the top of the browser window followed by Internet Options.
A new window will appear with various tabs along the top of
this window, if you select the content tab you will be presented
with a new page with a section called Personal Information.
Select the AutoComplete option from this section.
A further window will be opened where you can set if you wish
the AutoComplete function to list possible matches from entries
typed before or not. There are various options available and
you can choose the level of AutoComplete that you are comfortable
using.
