ASP stands for Active Server Pages.

Active Server Pages is a programming technique/language that enables web programmers to run programs/routines/tasks on the Web Server. The Web Server then outputs the web document to the client upon completion of the the program and this can be viewed by the web surfer in a browser.

In more basic terms Active Server Pages enable web documents to interact with the web users based on user input and other different conditions.

Active Server Pages, and other similar programming languages and techniques, has led to the development of the internet from being a static collection of words on documents to a more interactive experience based on user input.

You can search for other Internet Terms defined by entering the term by itself (eg:- ASP, not what is ASP) in the Happy Online Web Search Box below or by visiting the Terminology Index page of this tutorial. (You can also use the Happy Online Web Search box to search the Internet - visit the Compact Search Section for the Web Search home page.)
