Internet Terminology Defined - What is Anti-Virus Software ?

Anti-Virus Software is software that finds, block and deletes Computer Viruses.

The software once installed can amongst other tasks check for computer viruses when you download files from the internet, recieve emails and insert disks into your PC. You can also arrange for the software to run a check on your hard drive on an adhoc or regular basis.

It is highly recommended for all computer users to have anti-virus software.

In addition it is important to download updates to your Anti-Virus software to ensure that you are protected against any new viruses that are produced. Most Anti-Virus applications will have a link to a download centre on the internet where you can update the software.
