What is the text that will display on the web page if the picture is not visible for some reason ?

General Disclaimer - Happy Online would like to remind all visitors that they are responsible for their own computer settings - some suggestions may not work on some computers and may result in errors - you should only make changes to your computer if you are comfortable with any consequences that may arise.

The text that displays on a webpage if the images are not displayed is text that is specified by the website creator - it is also known as "ALT" text - this stands for alternative.

The same text is also displayed if you place your mouse pointer over the image.

The "Alt" text is important for disablitiy reasons - for people with eyesight problems the text is supposed to provide a description of the image - and therefore browsers that can read out text aloud can provide the individual who has problems seeing the image with a description.
