Internet Terminology Defined - What does Adware Mean ?

Adware is a way that some software programs that you may download or install our supported.

Sometimes when you install/download software another program may be installed that displays adverts. The adverts often display in a new window when you are browsing the internet.

Often Adware enables the original program you download the opportunity to provide a free service. Adware for example is often installed when you download some file sharing programs.

However some of the Adware programs can start tracking your surfing habits. In this way they build up user profiles and can provide adverts based on your online activities. This type of Adware is often referred to as Spyware.
