How Fast is DSL ?

DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) speed in the United Kingdom is dependent on the system and the phone line provided and it is therefore necessary to ask the service provider the speed of the link and compare this to other providers.

In theory Download speed could be faster than 6 Megabits per second, however in the UK you should look for speeds of 512 Kilobits per second up to approx 2000 Kilobits per second.

If you compare this to a standard 56 Kilobits Per Second modem - which normally connects at a slower speed than 56 Kilobits Per Second you can see that the speed advantages range from approx 10 to 35 times faster.
