More about Newcastle for travellers and
visitors
Newcastle is in the far North East of England,
UK, in the area known as Tyne and Wear.
The North East of England was famous for
ship building and the local economy was largely based
on this industry.
As the ship building declined Newcastle
had to re-invent itself and is now one of the UK major
cultural centres. For a night out on the town - nothing
compares to Newcastle.
Newcastle residents are known as Geordies
and are famous for their hospitality.

Out and About in and around Newcastle
Newcastle is one of the top places for a night out in
the UK and visitors will need to be prepared to drink
and party like the locals.
Visitors will also wish to see the Tyne Bridge that spans
the River Tyne and shop in the Metro Centre shopping mall.
Nearby to Newcastle is Sunderland to the South and Whitley
Bay to the North, with even further North the English/Scottish
border.
Not to faraway is Hadrians Wall - the Wall put up by
the Roman Emporer Hardrian to mark the divide between
Romain Britain and the Celts to the North.
